Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze hosted Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia John Bass. At the meeting the Minister informed Ambassador about current reforms and future plans of the Penitentiary System. Khatuna Kalmakhelidze expressed gratitude toward Ambassador for cooperation.

In a purpose to introduce distance learning practice in Penitentiary System, another public lesson was conducted today in Ksani №7 Establishment.

Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze opened the new administrative building in Penitentiary Establishment for Juveniles.

After discussing 200 cases of convicts Standing Commission of Conditional Release concluded to appeal for solicitation to the court on 19 cases.

Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze conducted briefing regarding amnesty of convicts. As Minister declared, 240 convicts are pardoned by the decision of the President of Georgia.

The course of public classes continues in Penitentiary Establishments. Project intends to introduce distance learning in Prisons. “Christian Temple as Model of Universe” - was the subject of new lecture held at Ksani №7 Penitentiary Establishment today. Lesson was conducted in the framework of Memorandum of Cooperation affirmed between the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance and Tbilisi State Academy of Art.
